Exciting Fall and Winter at Lamy’s: Downtown Sedalia Preview

We don’t want to alarm anyone.

The calendar has officially entered lamys era, where there’s something happening every five minutes.

Fall is rolling into Historic Downtown Sedalia.

Additionally, around Lamy’s, there are new places to shop and eat.

There are records worth lining up for, parties to plan, Santa arriving by train, and plenty more after that.

So grab your calendar. Additionally, here’s what’s coming.

September: Journey Vintage & Co. Opens Its Doors

First up: Journey Vintage & Co.

Kendra Taylor spent 10 years helping her parents run Nostalgia, and now she’s continuing that tradition with a vintage shop of her own right here inside Lamy’s.

Journey Vintage & Co. will feature 17 vendors bringing in vintage finds every week, which means this isn’t a “we’ve seen everything already” kind of shop. There will always be another rack to browse, shelf to inspect or treasure you absolutely did not come downtown intending to buy.

But you know how that goes.

The name also feels pretty perfect around here. Kendra’s family motto has long been “Enjoy the Journey,” and now Journey Vintage & Co. sits under the same historic roof as Josey Records.

Journey and Josey? We couldn’t have planned it better if we’d tried.

Late September: A New Menu at No. 5

Vintage isn’t the only new thing arriving this month.

At the end of September, No. 5 Bistro & Bar is dropping a new menu.

We won’t spoil everything yet, but consider this your official excuse to come back and see what’s new.

And while the weather is still cooperating, don’t forget about Saturday brunch on the patio. Missouri gives us approximately 11 perfect patio-weather days a year, so when one lands on a Saturday, we strongly suggest taking advantage of it.

Brunch. Patio. Maybe a little vintage shopping afterward. A flip through the records.

Suddenly you’ve spent half the day at Lamy’s.

Funny how that happens.

October: Fall Gatherings Have Entered the Chat

October is when calendars start filling up with showers, birthdays, reunions, company gatherings and the first person in every family asking, “So…what are we doing for Christmas this year?”

Before someone volunteers your house, we’d like to remind you that Lamy’s has multiple spaces available to rent.

Our Private Dining Room is perfect for smaller dinners and gatherings. The historic Lamy’s Entryway gives you exposed brick, history and plenty of room for a larger celebration. Want something a little less traditional? Josey Records makes one heck of a backdrop for a party. And during patio weather, the No. 5 patio gives you another option.

Hosting people from out of town? The Suites by Lamy’s are just a few blocks away, with seven rooms available for your crew.

Translation: you can host the party without moving your furniture, hiding everything in the spare bedroom or wondering why 37 people are standing in your kitchen.

We’ll call that a Christmas miracle.

November: Drop the Needle

November brings one of our favorite days of the year at Josey Records: Record Store Day Black Friday.

Josey Records

On Black Friday, independent record stores around the country get special releases made specifically for the occasion, and for vinyl collectors, it’s basically Christmas morning—just with more turntables.

Watch Josey’s social pages as November gets closer for details on releases, inventory and everything you’ll need to know before the big day.

And while everyone else is fighting over televisions and air fryers, you can be digging through vinyl in an old Levi’s factory.

We know which one we’d pick.

December: Santa Takes the Train

Yes, Santa has reindeer.

Apparently, he also has an Amtrak schedule.

One of downtown Sedalia’s favorite holiday traditions returns when Santa rides the train into Sedalia, bringing families downtown for a morning that feels like something straight out of a Christmas movie.

Lamy’s has become part of the fun, too, welcoming families after Santa arrives.

Plan a December Friday that starts with downtown shopping, a lunch at No. 5, and records at Josey. Then browse vintage treasures at Journey, admire lamys decorations, and enjoy all the lights and decorations of the season. That perfect mix makes a solid December Friday.

Yes, you read that right. Santa is coming two days this year.

The dates are Friday evening, December 11th, and Saturday morning, December 12th.

January: Historic Downtown Sedalia Restaurant Week

And just when everyone thinks the holidays are over and January is destined to be nothing but sweatpants and leftovers, Historic Downtown Sedalia Restaurant Week is coming.

We’re already looking forward to being part of a week that gives you a very good reason to get out of the house, head downtown and eat local.

More details—including what No. 5 has planned—will be coming as January gets closer.

For now, pencil it in.

Looks Like We’re Going to Be Busy

A new vintage shop. A new No. 5 menu. Saturday brunches. Fall parties. Holiday parties. Record Store Day. Santa on a train. Restaurant Week.

All happening in and around a building that once spent its days making blue jeans.

We’ve said it before: history loves company.

And apparently, it also loves brunch, vinyl, vintage shopping, Christmas parties and a very packed calendar.

We’ll see you downtown this fall and winter where history loves company.
