History Loves Thanksgiving

Since today is Thanksgiving, it only seemed appropriate to give a brief history of this amazing holiday where we all sit around (some hungover), Macy’s Thanksgiving parade in the background, stuffing our faces, watching football, and trying desperately to snag the last of the deviled eggs. Why is there never enough deviled eggs?

It’s hard to imagine the first Thanksgiving being hundreds and hundreds of years ago, but yet, here we are, taking after our forefathers and cramming meat down our faces while listing off the things we’re grateful for. Thankfully (pun intended) our meats of choice look a little different than they did in 1620. That first day of gratitude with the pilgrims featured lobster, seal, and swans. I think we’ll stick to the traditional turkey, though lobster never seems like a bad idea.

While our food choices have certainly evolved over the years, one thing is for sure–the pilgrims partied. Their feasts lasted no less than three days, in fact. We’re here for that. This year, you can find us celebrating the entire weekend long, sharing laughter and pie with friends and family, and most certainly sneaking in a football game or two.
