How to Do September Right: Football, First Thursdays & More at Lamy’s
August is nearly in the rearview, which means three things:
- The kids are back in school (pour one out for your quiet mornings).
- MU and Chiefs football are about to take over your life.
- Everyone is pretending it’s sweater weather, while we’re all still melting on Missouri patios.
At Lamy’s, we’re closing summer with a bang and rolling straight into fall with all the essentials: food, drinks, shopping, and a few good reasons to keep your calendar open.

🍓 First Thursdays + Strawberry Spritz
September 4th kicks off First Thursdays downtown. And good news — it’s not the last one of the season (that’s October), which means more chances to drink a Strawberry Spritz on our award-winning patio. Trust us, it’s crisp, it’s refreshing, and it pairs perfectly with pretending you don’t have work the next morning. We won’t lie, the Watermelon Refresher was the crowd favorite, but with temps straight out of hell, we are running out of quality watermelon. So, yes, we’re asking you to settle for the Spritz.
🏈 Football = Brunch Fuel
Saturdays are for college football (M-I-Z), Sundays are for the Chiefs, and Football Brunch at No. 5 Bistro is for people who need bottomless mimosas or a bloody mary to cope with either. Add in some chef specials that beat the hell out of sad tailgate nachos, and you’ve got your new game day ritual.

🛍️ Shop, Sip, Repeat
- Josey Records & Books: Flip through vinyl, snag a novel, or grab something to distract yourself from fantasy football heartbreak.
- Kempf’s Market: Tailgate food that actually impresses your friends. Meats, cheeses, and sandwiches worth trading for touchdowns.
- Upcycled by Lamy’s: Chic recycled décor because if Cracker Barrel can fumble a logo, somebody’s gotta carry the style game.
- The Candle Lab: Our candle line is the scent equivalent of a warm hug from someone who actually knows how to parallel park.
🏠 Stay Awhile
Got MU games, family in town, or just need to escape your own house? The Suites at 112 are historic, stylish, and stocked with everything but your annoying neighbor.

So yeah, August may be ending, but at Lamy’s the party is only heating up. Grab a Strawberry Spritz, snag some records, yell at the TV during brunch, and call it a successful transition to fall. As always, bring everyone you know to Lamy’s (except maybe the kids who can’t sit still while the rest of us eat our dinner). History Loves Company.
